Meet The Founder & Lead SLP
Kaitlin Mulcahey, MS, CCC-SLP
Licensed and certified speech-language pathologist serving families in East Providence, Rhode Island and nearby Massachusetts. I hold a Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from Loyola University Maryland and a Bachelor’s from the University of South Florida. I’m certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and committed to evidence-based, neurodiversity-affirming, connection-based therapy.
Every child is competent, unique, and capable of communication. I don’t believe in one-size-fits-all therapy. Instead, I meet each child where they are—tailoring therapy to their strengths, interests, and needs. My work especially supports autistic children, gestalt language processors, and children building skills through augmentative and alternative communication (AAC).
I’ve pursued extensive training so I bring current, learned practices to our sessions—including Natural Language Acquisition (NLA) for gestalt processors and the developmental framework ASD from the Inside Out. My specialty areas include speech & language therapy, AAC evaluations & therapy, school contracting (evaluations, direct support, staff training), and early intervention for children ages 0-3.
Therapy with me won’t happen at a table—we’ll move, explore, play, and connect. I believe young children learn best when engaged in joyful, meaningful experiences. Above all, I believe the best therapy happens through connection and joy. I’m honored to partner with families who embrace their children for exactly who they are—and I look forward to meeting yours.
Meet the Team
Rachel Frady, MS, CCC-SLP
Speech-Language Pathologist
I’m a pediatric speech-language pathologist passionate about supporting children in their communication journeys! I’m thrilled to be a part of the team at Competent Communicators. I also work full-time at the Wolf School in Rumford, Rhode Island, collaborating with special education teachers, occupational therapists, and support staff to provide classroom-based speech and language therapy.
Since earning my Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology in May 2020, I’ve worked in school-based settings, including the Bradley Schools in New London, South County, and Cumberland. There, I provided speech and language services to students with psychiatric needs, helping them develop essential communication and life skills.
My approach to therapy is holistic and child-centered. I believe in looking at the whole child—considering their interests, goals, and unique strengths—and using those insights to guide meaningful, engaging, and functional intervention. I draw from neurodiversity-affirming practices and love integrating play, social-emotional learning, and self-advocacy into therapy to support communication growth.
I am certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the Rhode Island Department of Health. I have pursued continuing education in several frameworks that support my work, including Natural Language Acquisition (for Gestalt Language Processors), Orton-Gillingham (for reading acquisition), and Social Thinking (for social skills development).
It is a joy to partner with families and help children find their voice. I look forward to working with your child!
